| He received immense training in other informal sectors through his involvement with Dale Carnegie Courses, Toastmasters, Duke of Edinburghs Scheme, Art of Living, Rotary Clubs, Fiji Jaycees (Junior Chamber) and numerous other organizations. Himmat was also the National President of the Fiji Jaycees in 1989 and a Senator also. He was twice the President of Rotary Clubs in Fiji (76/77 & 03/04). |

| In politics, Himmat Lodhia was in the elected Government as a member of the Upper House in Parliament. He was also the Minister for Indian Affairs. |

| Himmat has played an important role with the various Government bodies and statutory organizations on appointment by the Government of the day. This includes being on the boards of Fiji Sports Council, Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji, Labor Advisory Board, Land Transport Authority, National Fire Authority, National Trust of Fiji, Capital Markets Authority, Trade Standards Council, Fiji Visitors Bureau, Telecom Fiji, HFC Finance Bank and the Fiji National Provident Fund Board. |

| Mr Lodhia was a founding member of the Suva Retailers Association and became the Chairman and President in 1985, a position he still holds. In 1996 he was instrumental in forming the Fiji Retailers Association of which he has been the National President since inception till present. As the Fiji Retailers Representative he is on the board of the Federation of Asia Pacific Retailers Association for the last 14 years. |

| The Government has awarded him the Independence Medal in 1995 and he is a Justice of Peace in Fiji. |
